printed an attendee list in the last couple of years due to cost
and environmental factors. An electronic version of the list is
available and can be accessed through this web page. If you should

Award
Winners
Congratulations to all of our Tower of Excellence Awards winners!
This year we made the distinction between a small and large provider.
Any corporate housing provider with 500 units or more was considered
in the large provider category. Also, we added a number of new awards
to honor the achievements of providers in additional categories.
The Tower of Excellence Award nominations were judged based on specific
criteria for each award. The three judges, two not within the industry,
scored the nominations based on this criteria using a judging sheet.
You can review a sample judging sheet by clicking here
to get an idea of how the nominations were scored.
Please review the list below of award winners and be sure to congratulate
them!

Corporate Housing
In
corporate housing, the sales cycle no longer starts and ends with
the sales call. It spans the entire customer lifecycle, starting
with marketing and continuing across sales and service interactions,
which can span many years. Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
is one of the most potent business strategies to emerge in recent
years. The more your company knows about its customers and the closer
your relationship you can forge with them, the better you can serve
their needs and the more you can sell. Learn about CRM, how it works,
and how to implement this strategy in your business.

Marketing
Your Way to a Full Housing
Mandy Kolesik, Marketing
Kinetics, LLC
It’s not all about
glossy pictures of great living spaces. Great marketing
requires the right message in the right place. During her session
Mandy Kolesik will give you the tools to master both of these issues.
- The right message: Do you really understand your market
and what they are looking for in corporate housing? Do your ads
and messages speak to potential clients? During this session we’ll
explore the needs of each of your market segments and how to send
out marketing messages that have the most impact. Mandy will also
help you determine which aspects of your brand you should higlight
in your markeitng messages.
- The right place: When is a marketing or advertising tool a
good one? How can you predict your return on investment in visibility
or future sales? Mandy will work with you to examine marketing
opportuniites that come your way and the 5 basic rules to determine
if they are worth it. Discussions will include new marketing methods
(web, search, email) and how to make them work for you. Before
you spend money on
ads or promotion you’ll want the tools Mandy will share
with you during this session.
How to Soar With
Eagles: 7 Requirements for High-Flying Success (no presentation)
Rick
Houcek, Soar with Eagles, Inc
You
will learn the necessary elements of effective strategic planning,
and why small to mid-size businesses require a model different than
multi-billion dollar giants. Rick will tell you what works
and why ... what fails and why. His unique Escape-Proof
Accountability™ system overcomes the single biggest cause of plan
failure – lousy implementation – and ensures effective execution.
Don't
Bust on Today's Technology
Facilitator:
Rob Giese, CRP, CCHP, Tech4 Inc .
Panelists:
Gavan James, Oakwood Worldwide ; Robb Lax, Arch Interim Housing
; Andrea Schroeder, Strategic Five Business Solutions
Providing
excellent service is vital to any provider's success. Today's technologies
can enhance service delivery and resolve many of the issues that
can “fall through the cracks.” Industry experts will highlight in-house
and off-the-shelf operating systems and the factors they considered
when choosing to invest in technology. There are definite pitfalls
to selecting the wrong system. Attend this session to understand
the basic questions you need to ask when implementing a new system
or reviewing their current system to avoid going bust!
Power
Planning™ For High-Octane Success (no presentation)
Rick
Houcek, Soar with Eagles, Inc.
Fasten
your seatbelts. This session is only for people at the "top
of the pyramid", who take the bull by the horn, seek to improve
self rather than blame others, and will do whatever it takes to
succeed through ethical means -- AND for those who aspire to get
there. "Victims" and blame-oriented people need
not attend. While a few of them may see the light and
come around, most won't, and will only get frustrated, angry and
wallow more deeply in their victimhood. Rick provides takeway
tools to get started right away -- including a 12-month action
plan to help attendees stair-step their personal and professional
success.
Are
You All In? Making the Transition to Effective Management
Dr.
Gerald Graham, Wichita State University
We
will look at ways to make a smooth transition from being a new manager
to becoming a more effective manager. We will talk about the challenges
you are going to face and how relationships change. In addition,
we will talk about how to handle different types of employees and
how motivation plays an important part in your role as a manager.
Increase
your Payoff: Phase Your Way to Sales Success
Elaine
Quiroz, CRP, Corporate Housing Strategies
Marjie
Foster, Forte Marketing & PR
You've
heard that it's not what you say; it's how you
say it. In sales, it's usually both! Account
managers find themselves searching for just the right
words; a better way to ask a question, address a concern,
or get a client to share more about their housing needs. By changing
the way you phrase your questions and comments, you can
dramatically change the answers and feedback you receive.
Industry
veterans Elaine Quiroz and Marjie Foster team up to bring you
a sampling of the industry's best phrases for sales success! You'll
learn the best phrasing for:
* Setting
the appointment
* Steering
the conversation
* Digging
for more information
*
Dealing with sensitive subjects
* Closing
the sale
* Asking
for feedback... and more!
Be
prepared for a few "V8" moments during this session as Elaine
and Marjie share specific phrases that will change the
way you sell!
The
Lazy Environmentalist
Josh
Dorfman, CEO, Vivavi
This
session will provide comprehensive guidance to fashion-forward consumers
who are as concerned about the long-term health of our planet as
they are about the design of their bathroom fixtures. Exploring
topics that range from clothing to electronic gadgetry, home décor
to recreation, and gardening to financial investment, Dorfman lets
us know which trends to watch and which eco-conscious products –
cars, toothbrushes, cell phones, pet accessories – to buy. Green,
it turns out, can be an extremely stylish color.
