Housewares for Homes

CHPA was recently contacted by the Rising Creek Family Charity, Inc. (RCFC) to request donations from providers and/or associate partners. The Rising Creek Family Charity, Inc. (RCFC) exists to help families in the Richmond, VA area as they transition from shelter housing to a more permanent home and employment. Working in partnership with established agencies, we have programs that are designed to give a helping hand to our citizens who are working hard to help themselves.

Through their Housewares for Home program, they work with mothers and children in the area as they set up new homes after being displaced, commonly due to domestic violence.  In many cases, they have had to leave everything behind to find safety for themselves and their children.  RCFC tries to give them everything they need to be able to prepare and serve food to their children, along with linens for bed and bath. (They have a policy of only using new linens in our packages.)

Many corporate housing companies periodically change out their housewares items and the previous ones are usually "gently" used so in good condition.  Their biggest need is around the "hard goods" for kitchens. They always need the following:

  • Dish sets (preferably sets of 4)
  • Silverware
  • Glasses (regular and juice)
  • Kitchen and cooking utensils:
  • Knives, cutting board
  • Measuring spoons and cups
  • Mixing bowls
  • Manual can opener
  • Cooking utensils
  • Cookie sheet, cake pans, baking pans
  • Pots and pans
  • Coffee makers

They are happy to meet mid-way for providers located in Virginia who have surplus to share.  Please feel free to contact RCFC via email or go www.RCFConline.org for more information.
