Vaughan, ON – Canada’s largest provider of corporate housing, Premiere Suites, is excited to announce their renewed commitment to the Furniture Bank, to help reduce furniture poverty and reduce waste.
“Furniture Bank helps the thousands of families in our community who lack basic home furnishings such as beds, tables and kitchen tools, by providing them with gently used household items,” says Susan Cully, President of Premiere Suites. “We’re proud to say we’ve already donated more than 875 pieces of furniture and household supplies, and we’re looking forward to doing even more.”
Premiere Suites has been a great supporter of the Furniture Bank mission. “By hiring Furniture Bank to remove their excess furniture and household items, they’re not only making a significant contribution to reducing waste but also empowering us to redistribute these items to families in need,” shared Tammy Peddle, Social Enterprise Director at Furniture Bank. “This kind of support from Premiere Suites fuels our mission, amplifying the reach of our social enterprise and ensuring the responsible handling and redistribution of essential items.”
‘Furniture poverty’ refers to the lack of basic home furnishings such as beds, sofas and tables, which can lead to physical, emotional, and financial consequences for individuals and families. There are hundreds of thousands of people facing this reality across Canada.
“As a corporate housing provider, we know the importance of home furnishings in the utility, comfort, and safety of a home, so this was a natural partnership for us,” added Cully, when asked why Premiere is partnering with Furniture Bank. “We’re able to ensure that our gently used items get a whole new life, while directly helping people in our community to turn empty housing into real homes.”
Furniture Bank’s initiatives also help to reduce furniture waste, by ensuring useful items stay out of landfills.
“As the largest corporate housing provider in Canada, we’re able to make a significant contribution to Furniture Bank, and we’re proud of that,” continued Cully. “But we’d also like to encourage all Canadian corporate housing providers to join us – together we can make a real difference to people in our communities, all of whom deserve the comfort and stability of a furnished home with all the necessities.”
