BOQ Lodging Donates Furniture and Household Goods to the USO Warrior and Family Center in Fort Belvoir, VA
ALEXANDRIA, VA – BOQ Lodging, a subsidiary of Weichert Corporate Housing, proudly supported the local community by donating furniture and household goods to the USO Warrior and Family Center at Fort Belvoir, VA.
As the largest USO in the world, the USO Warrior and Family Center at Fort Belvoir plays a crucial role in supporting our service members. The donated furniture and household items will be distributed to enlisted service members (E-5 and below) who are just starting their careers or setting up their housing, ensuring they receive the essential support they need.
BOQ Lodging upcycled the equivalent of five one-bedroom apartments’ worth of furniture and housewares. When furniture ends up in landfills, it contributes to methane emissions, a potent greenhouse gas. In contrast, upcycling furniture presents a sustainable disposal alternative that significantly reduces this environmental impact. Upcycling not only helps decrease waste but also conserves natural resources that would have been used in creating new furniture.
By donating over 50 pieces of furniture, BOQ Lodging prevented these items from being discarded into local landfills, reducing waste and contributing to a greener planet. This initiative not only provides vital assistance to our service members but also significantly promotes environmental sustainability.
