CORPORATE HOUSING ICON PASSES AWAY
Chicago, IL – July 9, 2025
It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved founder, Francine Novak Manilow. Francine passed away peacefully, leaving behind an extraordinary legacy that has shaped not only Manilow Suites but an entire industry. Francine was a true visionary and a trailblazing entrepreneur. In 1980, she founded Manilow Suites and, with her bold foresight, coined the term “corporate housing,” revolutionizing short-term stays for traveling professionals. Her unwavering commitment to “white-glove service” and meticulous attention to detail infused every aspect of the company, creating a standard of luxury and comfort that delighted guests for over four decades.
Beyond her groundbreaking work at Manilow Suites, Francine’s career sparkled with innovation. While proudly serving as a United Airlines stewardess for nearly 40 years, she fearlessly built a real estate empire and launched a string of creative ventures. She was a tireless champion of women in business, breaking barriers and opening doors for countless individuals who followed in her footsteps. Her uncanny ability to spot opportunities where others saw obstacles, and her generous wisdom, made her a trusted guide and mentor to many. Francine was more than just a brilliant businesswoman; she was a radiant soul who brought every room to life with her sparkling personality, infectious laugh, and magnetic warmth. She loved people deeply and had a special gift for making everyone feel welcome and important. Even amidst her glamorous public life, her kind heart extended limitlessly to animals, especially her cherished horses and goats. We will deeply miss Francine’s unstoppable energy, creative spirit, and boundless generosity. Her legacy lives on in the buildings across the Chicago skyline, in every guest who felt truly at home in her suites, and in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know her.
In honor of Francine’s lifelong love for animals, memorial contributions may be made to A.D.O.P.T. (Animals Deserving of Proper Treatment) or to your favorite animal charity.
