Serving on the board of the Corporate Housing Providers Association has been one of the most meaningful leadership experiences of my career thus far. I initially joined with the intention of giving back to an association that has long championed professionalism, advocacy and collaboration within the corporate housing industry. In return, the experience strengthened my leadership skills and broadened my perspective in ways I did not anticipate.

Board service challenged me to move from an operational mindset to a more strategic one. Rather than focusing on immediate solutions, I learned to evaluate long-term impact, anticipate emerging member needs and prioritize the sustainability of the industry as a whole. This shift enhanced my ability to collaborate across diverse viewpoints and contribute to thoughtful, well-informed decisions that serve the broader membership.

Turning Vision into Measurable Action

That strategic lens became especially meaningful through my involvement in developing CHPA’s three-year strategic plans and helping translate vision into action. Participating in this process allowed me to think more holistically about the association’s direction, key priorities and the opportunities ahead.

As a member of the Executive Committee, I worked closely with fellow board members and staff not only to establish clear objectives, but also to ensure sustained focus and accountability. We regularly evaluated our progress, adjusted course when needed and kept the board aligned around shared commitments.

Seeing the strategy move from planning to execution, and ultimately to measurable outcomes for the association, was both rewarding and reaffirming.

Their consistency and behind-the-scenes leadership ensured our strategic direction translated into meaningful action, reinforcing just how essential they are to the association’s stability and long-term success.
