AHI CELEBRATES 30 YEARS IN THE CORPORATE HOUSING INDUSTRY

Birmingham-based corporate housing provider commemorates milestone anniversary with a look back at company growth and appreciation for lifelong partnerships and clients.

AHI began as a small apartment search agency and publication in 1989. President of AHI, Ralph Moore noticed that people, specifically business travelers weren’t just looking for a place to stay; they were looking for certain locations, amenities, customer service and more space. They wanted more of a home rather than a hotel. Apartment Hunters Incorporated (AHI) was born.

AHI began by helping clients find the right apartments to fit their needs to a full service furnished apartment and corporate housing provider. Eventually expanding their services to include a property management division (AHI Properties) with offices throughout the southeast and nationally.

Moore says, “I really can’t believe it’s been 30 years. I can say with certainty however that we would have never made it for even 30 days without the hard work and dedication of our staff. I thank them all wholeheartedly for making tough jobs look easy and for staying with me all this time. I also want to recognize our clients. I am profoundly grateful for the trust you have shown in our company. My staff and I know that without you, our loyal clients, there would be no AHI Corporate Housing. We will never lose sight of this essential fact. So again, thanks to all and lets go for another 30 years.”

In the last decade, AHI has significantly grown to a ten-office organization with over 90 employees. Cheri Jenkins, vice president of operations says, “We’ve adapted our business model over the years as the travel and housing industry continues to change. Our guests request certain things and I believe we’ve been successful because we do our very best to make sure we honor those requests.”

Jenkins recently celebrated her own 30-year milestone with the company and says paying close attention to detail is something AHI continues to take very seriously. “We have phased out telephones in our utilities package and replaced it with high speed Internet and Wi-Fi in every unit,” said Jenkins. When every guest has multiple mobile devices, Internet and streaming services are now more important than a landline.

Jenkins elaborated a little more saying, “Most people who travel don’t like the time constraints of a check in and out time, and so all of our units are self check-in with lock boxes for easy key access. We really try to make things as easy as possible for the guest. When we say it’s like a ‘home away home’ we really mean it.”

An Oklahoma City guests, Shannon S., left this review describing the customer service that she received from an AHI representative while renting an apartment from them in 2017. “I just wanted to take the time to say thank you so much for everything! Moving a family of five 2,000 miles away is beyond stressful, but you helped take some of that stress away. Not only did you find us an apartment, you took the time to help get my kids enrolled in school, sent us each school supply lists, had all the phone numbers and addresses to the new schools. You gave me info for a new vet, doctor, eye doctor and bank…you name it! You told me on that first phone call that you would make your part stress free and easy and that is just what you did. You went above and beyond in my eyes. After we checked in you called us over the weekend to check on us and make sure everything was good. I could hear your kids in the background so I know you were taking time away from your family to check on mine. We live in a world that is so crazy and you hear so many bad things but there are still kind people out there. From one mom to another, thank you for everything!”

AHI Corporate Housing has offices in Atlanta, Birmingham, Chattanooga, Cincinnati, Huntsville, Louisville, Memphis, Mobile, Nashville and Oklahoma City.
